Each year, from September 15 to October 15, the United States observes Hispanic Heritage Month — a time dedicated to honoring the cultures, histories, and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx Americans. But beyond the festivities, music, and colorful celebrations, there’s a deeper purpose behind this month-long recognition. Hispanic Heritage Month is not just about celebration — it’s about recognition, education, and equity. It's a chance to honor the past, uplift the present, and inspire a more inclusive future.

In our current challenging times for the Latinos (and other immigrants) in the US it becomes even more important to celebrate this month to strengthen our Latin community that had been suffering many challenges with the Trump administration and to create a better sense of unity. Also, this celebration may help create a more connected and empathetic society in which there is a better understanding of all cultures and promotes to embrace multiculturalism and reconsider outdated views by cultivating a positive, inclusive, and culturally varied society.

Here’s why celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month truly matters — for everyone.

1. Honoring Cultural Contributions

From iconic music styles like salsa and reggaetón, to beloved foods like tacos and empanadas, to the brilliance of Hispanic innovators, artists, and leaders — Hispanic and Latinx communities have left an undeniable mark on American culture.

This month is a powerful reminder that the U.S. is not a melting pot, but a vibrant mosaic — and Hispanic culture is a vital part of that picture.

2. Preserving and Sharing Heritage

For many Hispanic Americans, especially those in younger generations, this month is a chance to reconnect with their roots. Celebrating traditions, hearing family stories, or learning about countries of origin helps preserve cultural identity — and sharing those experiences creates a sense of pride and community. Hispanic Heritage Month helps keep those stories alive.

Did you know that Hispanic Americans trace their heritage to more than 20 countries across Latin America, the Caribbean, and Spain? Or that September 15 was chosen as the starting date because it coincides with the independence days of several Latin American countries?

Our Contribution to the Hispanic Community

We have always wanted to support the Latino community, and we do so by working with small businesses and artisans from South America. We provide opportunities for them to increase their business and reach an international market.

Further, it is our goal and mandate to amplify more Latin American voices and celebrate our rich culture, so we make sure we represent as well as possible the artisans, culture and story behind each of our products. Representing South American culture through our products makes us very happy!

Lastly, we partnered up with some local Latino artisans and small businesses in our home city: Vancouver, Canada to also support our Latino community locally. And we donate often to local organizations helping our community.
